And now it’s time for me, the most amateur of critics (who can discuss Mandy Moore films…and yes, actually come up with merits), to talk about the Oscars. Know that I’m not talking about any of the movies, just the actual broadcast of the Oscar ceremony.
Quite the match-up, huh? I saw these long enough ago to not have too much to add, but in the spirit of Oscar-preparedness, here goes:
Before watching, I didn’t know anything about this movie beyond what other people said about it the weekend it opened. I don’t watch network television that much; I don’t go to the movies that much – I hadn’t seen trailers, or known who was in it past Leo, Ellen Page & Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I knew Christopher Nolan was involved so that it’d be pretty tight. So, going in, my ideas sound like a 12 year old girl:
So, last night while I was giving in to insomnia, I watched The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and all its special features. Today I've spent a few minutes reading quotes by Wes Anderson and the Wilson brothers.
I love mentally recasting things… on today's schedule is the upcoming movie Twilight. First off, please don’t comment on the actual Twilight books past the first one, because we haven’t finished them all yet. Unfortunately, this one has a lot of space/time continuum exceptions, because (and it’s probably a good thing), Natalie and I aren’t all that knowledgeable of the current teen acting population, barring Hannah Montana and the cast of High School Musical (and I’m totally speaking for myself on HSM, Natalie has not seen them).
I do give away some details of the book just trying to explain our choices, so if that’s going to bother you, don’t read this…
